We have short waiting times, everyone is welcome here and no referrals are needed. IVF-kliniken is to be found in Umeå, Falun, Gothenburg, Stockholm and Malmö. We can offer a complete range of fertility treatments. As the only private clinic in Sweden we can also offer egg and sperm donation at our clinic in Umeå. We have over 20 years' experience of treating childnessness, and our ambition is to offer couples continuity, security and a personal approach. Couples who have undergone a childlessness investigation in another clinic or surgery are also welcome here for an unbiased review of the results of the investigation.
The treatment in brief
The following is a brief description of the commonest stages of IVF treatment (test-tube fertilisation).
Investigation
The investigation will help you decide which treatment suits you.
Hormone stimulation
The aim of hormone stimulation is to get several vesicular ovarian follicles to grow, and it should make the endometrium receptive to eggs.
Collecting eggs
On the day eggs are to be collected both the woman and the man will come into the clinic. The man will bring in a sperm sample that same morning. Egg collection takes about 20 minutes and is carried out under local anaesthetic. The couple can go home a few hours later.
Fertilisation
After the eggs have been in a heating cabinet for about 24 hours it is possible to see whether they are fertilised.
Replacement
A fertilised egg is selected and replaced to the womb. The replacement is not usually felt, and only takes a few minutes. The embryo is now well enclosed and grows in the womb.
Pregnancy test/ultrasound
Two to three weeks after a first positive pregnancy test ultrasound is used.
